Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive System Administrator (SME) to join our team in Clarksburg, WV (Remote). The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex system issues, implementing system architectures, optimizing system performance, and ensuring robust security measures are in place. This role requires a deep understanding of operating systems, hardware, network protocols, security, and cloud technologies, along with the ability to work collaboratively with other administrators and provide technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, requiring detailed analysis and creative solutions to ensure minimal downtime and operational efficiency.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new system architectures, including server configurations, network topology, and data storage solutions.

  • Monitor system performance metrics and identify bottlenecks, implementing optimizations to enhance system efficiency and maximize uptime.

  • Implement and manage robust security measures, including user access controls, patch management, and staying updated on emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Forecast future system needs based on organizational growth and technological trends, planning for necessary hardware upgrades or infrastructure scaling.

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to other system administrators on best practices, new technologies, and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Maintain, configure, and manage both on-premise and cloud-based systems to ensure the security and stability of the environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience with enterprise network administration tools, with a strong background in system administration.

  • Expertise in Linux operating systems, including system configuration, shell scripting, and package management.

  • Advanced experience in managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and related technologies.

  • Deep understanding of AWS and Azure cloud platforms, including cloud security best practices and resource management.

  • Extensive knowledge of network infrastructure, routing protocols, firewalls, and network security protocols.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe methodologies.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with additional cloud platforms or infrastructure as code tools.

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or similar are a plus.

  • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) for system configuration and management.
